Overview

This urban walk includes a visit to the National Trust garden on the former railway viaduct at Castlefield and a stop at Ordsall Hall, a grade 1 listed Tudor  manor house dating from 1177. The route follows the Bridgewater Canal and Manchester Ship Canal to Media City concluding with a tram ride back to Castlefield and then the train from Deansgate to Chorley.  A packed lunch is required.

A Wayfarer ticket (£17.40) can be purchased at Chorley railway station. This covers train and tram travel to and around Manchester. If you are eligible to obtain a concessionary ticket (£11.50) you need to have a national bus pass with you as proof.
