West Mendip Walkers strenuous 11.9 mile loop walk from Houns-tout, Kingston car park (BH20 5LL). We head south, via a gravel track, through woodland and onto a grass escarpment to Houns-tout Cliff (470ft) at which point we join the South West Coast path (FP) and a short steep descent. The path is followed for about 4-5 miles westwards towards Kimmeridge Bay passing by Egmont Bight, Eldon seat(290ft) up and down until reaching Clavell Tower (160ft). From the tower, we descend some steep steps into Kimmeridge Bay. The route then heads inland joining the Hardy Way to Kimmeridge and uphill passing around the Church until the path ends at a road junction. We turn left and follow a minor road uphill for a short while and join a FP heading towards Whiteway Farm and on towards Ridgeway Hill taking a FP on the left to climb to the ridge (570ft), before crossing a road and continuing to Knowle Hill. The path descends around the dramatic 12th century ruins of Corfe Castle and continues through Corfe town and southward through Corfe Common and continues uphill towards Kingston and back to our start point at Houns-tout.
