Overview

West Mendip Walkers moderate, pleasantly varied, 15.3 kms (9.5 miles) circular walk from Winsford Car Park (TA24 7JE), with 450 metres (1,475 feet) of ascent.  The walk heads out in a southerly direction through the picturesque village of Winsford before turning west, climbing steadily through woodland along a brook towards Winsford Hill. Following a short section on the B3223 and then across open moorland we arrive at Winsford Hill at 426 metres, offering spectacular views (weather permitting) across Exmoor. We then head north over the Punchbowl and Bye Common, descending to the River Exe for an easy 2.5 mile riverside stretch back into Winsford.
