Overview

Follow in the footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson as we walk along the tranquil banks of the Water of Leith. We start at the foot of the Pentlands in Balerno and walk past the Lennox Tower, Currie Kirk, Spylaw Park where we will have a picnic lunch stop, through the Colinton Tunnel, Redhall Walled Garden, finishing at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre via the Dells. With luck there should be snowdrops, dippers, and perhaps the blue flash of a kingfisher.

The trail is mostly on the former railway track so its flat and with a good surface. The Dell can be muddy after heavy rain and there are a few wooden steps to negotiate.
