This is a leisurely wander through a chunk of the West End with a focus on Glasgow University's splendid Gilmorehill Campus. We'll start with a stroll through the edge of Kelvingrove Park and a hike up to the iconic tower of the Gilbert Scott Building from where we'll enjoy views out over the city. We'll then take in the East and West Quadrangles of the campus, the Cloisters and Professors' Square before heading out into some of the streets off University Avenue to explore a few of the West End's architectural and little-known gems. We'll then head up to the Botanic Gardens (where a tea break beckons) and finally along the banks of the River Kelvin back into Kelvingrove Park.
You can book on this walk by contacting the leader, Yvonne, from Wednesday August 27.
This is an urban walk, all on tarmac. Best wear comfortable shoes and bring a waterproof jacket. We'll stop for a break, weather permitting in the Botanic Gardens so good idea to bring a drink and/or a snack.
