We start by visiting Gunpowder park, a wildlife haven created on the site of the old munitions testing facility. We then head up to Waltham Abbey for lunch. You can picnic in the Abbey park or you might opt for the pie and mash shop, supposedly frequented by David Beckham in his youth.
After lunch we will head through farmland, skimming the edge of High Beech and descending Lippitts hill. We swing back to the west and eventually join the London Loop for the last half mile or so, before returning to Enfield Lock.
The are no toilets at Enfield Lock station but there are some in Gunpowder Park and Waltham Abbey.
This walk will have some hills, a few stiles and, if there has been even the slightest bit of rain, some mud. However they are almost all in the section after lunch. If you don't get on with mud, hills and stiles you could drop out at Waltham Abbey and take a bus to Waltham Cross station.
