Overview

Starting from Hassocks station, this scenic 11 mile ridge walk takes you up from the village through ancient woodland and past an iconic windmills to join the chalk grasslands of the South Downs Way. Along the ridge you’ll pass Ditchling Beacon (traces of Iron Age ramparts) , and enjoy sweeping views inland and out to Brighton and the English Channel. After lunch, the route continues into Plumpton before descending into historic Lewes.

Optional pub stop end of the walk.  Please bring packed lunch.

Travel: Take the 10:16 from London Victoria (Clapham Junction 10:22), arriving at Hassocks at 11:13. Alternatively, trains also run from London Bridge.

Buy a return ticket to Lewes.
