Overview

We will walk South from Fairwarp quickly joining the Weald way through woodlands and fields to Five Ash Down and Buxted Park where we will stop for a short snack break and to inspect the interesting 13th century church from where which we will walk to Buxted itself and turning North on the Vanguard Way towards Norden Green and High Hurstwood where we will stop for our picnic lunch on the Green.  Unfortunately the eponymous pub is closed on that and so refreshments will need to be brought.

After lunch we will join the Vanguard Way up to Camp Hill in the open heathland of the Forest with its panoramic views before starting our descent back to Fairwarp enjoying the long views and passing the Airman's Grave.

The walk is moderate without steep climbs but the pace will be brisk and the underfoot will be damp and there are sections which are muddy to very muddy  making the going a bit harder.
