Overview

Please note this is a change to the walk details and start point for the originally published walk for January 11th 2026. This is now a walk of 11 miles starting from Wye Church, so don't go to the Nature Reserve Car Park, as we won't be there for a few months!

Commencing  through the churchyard, we go left across farmland and fields beside Wye Court, crossing Sparrows Bridge en route to Bilting. Our circuit crosses the A28 and over fields, to join the North Downs Way (NDW) for an ascent onto Soakham Downs, which is a short but deceptively steady climb, to get the heart pumping nicely.

We pass through the centre of the ancient King's Wood to Oathill Farm, to make progress to Challock. Continuing down Church Lane, which unsurprisingly leads us to St Cosmas & St Damian's Church, sitting proudly above Eastwell Park and has commanding views over the landscape.

The church is a great spot for our short picnic lunchbreak, indeed we have scoffed our sandwiches here many times, including recently on a walk from Charing on December 7th 2025. Suitably fed, we head downhill through Eastwell Park, to rejoin the NDW, across to Boughton Lees & Boughton Aluph for our return to Wye.

The New Flying Horse at Wye, is our usual pub for those requiring the obligatory post walk drink.

Dogs welcome, but on a short lead when required.
