Walking in and around Southampton
Southampton Ramblers was the first Ramblers group in Hampshire, founded in 1954. We now have nearly 400 members
We offer over 250 walks a year which include the Test Valley, Meon Valley, New Forest, Eastleigh and Winchester districts. During the summer months, our all-day walks can venture in to the neighbouring counties of Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire and West Sussex.
Newcomers are always welcome to try our walks: just turn up at the start and make yourself known to the leader. Bring refreshments. Ordinary walking shoes should generally be OK for the shorter walks. There is no charge but if after 2 or 3 walks you feel our walks are for you we would ask that you give serious consideration to joining the Ramblers Association. There is something for everyone so if you enjoy walking in Hampshire and the surrounding area then why not give us a try? Come and meet us, make new friends, and discover how walking boosts your health and enjoyment. .
Dogs are welcome on our walks, but must be put on a lead at appropriate times such as walking along a road or crossing a road, and when in the vicinity of livestock.
Come along and join us!
We offer friendly company on our walks. Our walks range in length and pace. We have 5-7 mile half-day walks with moderate and brisker speeds on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, a 4 mile leisurely walk on Fridays and a longer all-day walk on Sundays. Details of our walks programme and membership of the RA are below and on the attached programme. Members may also enjoy using the Ramblers app on their smartphone. It is easy to download and install and will allow you see walks in the area and even get directions to the starting point.
When joining the Ramblers please select 'Southampton' as your Ramblers Group. This supports our activities, and means you receive our Newsletters.
