Ramblers has a new approach to Walk Leader training, and has asked all walk leaders to complete new training modules or confirm your experience or other outdoor leadership qualification. Walk Leader training requires the completion of two modules (Walk Leadership Foundations and Preventing and Managing Incidents) as well as reading the Ramblers Walk Leader Handbook.
Although you can do the training on-line, this session is designed to support all walk leaders - new and old - and those of you who may wish to find out more about what is involved - to complete the two walk-leader training modules in a group session, where we can learn from each another in a friendly, social setting. We ran a similar session in September where participants valued the group discussions and sharing of individual practice and experiences.
This session includes the two modules: “Walk Leadership Foundations” and “Preventing and Managing Incidents” each lasting around 45 mins and there will be time for group discussion. Participants will also need to read the Walk Leader handbook in their own time.
We'll start at 10.00am in the Community Room at the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust, in Darby Road, Coalbrookdale. Hot drinks, cake and snacks available throughout the session.
We’ll have a tea-break between the two sessions, so aim to end by 1pm.
Parking is available at the venue.
Please confirm with the event organiser if you are attending - as places are limited.
