A lovely walk from Pitt Down through farmland paths and quiet roads to Lower Slackstead. We then continue to Ampfield Wood and skirt the edge of Hilliers Arboretum - where we might spot the resident pigs.
Leaving the woodland we head to Braishfield, where we'll stop for a picnic lunch. After our pause we'll pass the village pond and climb through a number of copses before emerging onto Farley Lane. The lane leads us close to Farley Chamberlayne church and onwards to Parnholt Wood. The final stretch along the Clarendon Way is familiar to local walkers and offers expansive views to the north.
Some of the paths are somewhat overgrown, so trousers are recommended.
There are a few stiles and a bridge which has a high step off.
This is a picnic walk. Bring food and refreshments for a coffee and a picnic lunch , plus plenty of water.
Please let me know if you would like to join this walk. We will leave when all known walkers have arrived.
