Join the 20s-30s group for a 12.5km/7.8 mile walk from Penarth to Dinas Powys via Cosmeston Lakes.
This walk will start from Penarth station and go down to the pier where we will then walk along the coast towards Lavernock. From here we shall turn inwards towards Cosmeston Lakes with a chance to see the medievil village. We will then walk around the lakes, stopping for lunch before making our way into Dinas Powys where we shall end the walk. There will be an chance to buy some refreshments at Cosmeston Lakes for those that wish to.
The starting point will be Penarth station and the end point will Eastbrook station. For anyone travelling by train there will be some rail disruption going towards Cardiff Central before 1pm particularly between Ebbw Vale Town, Pontypridd and Caerphilly however this is not scheduled to affect return journeys, and there are trains from Cardiff Central to Penarth. Anyone driving should also note that Penarth and Eastbrook are on different train lines which share stops at Grangetown and Cardiff Central so it might be worth considering taking part of your journey by train to simplify your journey home. Additionally, I don't know if there is much car parking space near the starting point.
The walk is mostly on well-trodden foot paths, but these can get muddy so please wear suitable footwear and please bring layers suitable for the weather on the day. The route is dog friendly with only a few stiles.
