This is an 11 mile linear walk, starting in Taffs Well train station, where we will get the 10:19 train to Porth. The walk will start on arrival in Porth at 10:40.
The initial part of the walk will be on residential streets, with an opportunity to see the old Corona factory (now known as the Pop Factory). We'll then join a footpath/ cycle path, passing the Rhondda Heritage Centre on our right.
We will then come to Barry Sidings Country Park. Walking past streams and small pools, we will eventually come out in Pontypridd town centre. Our route then takes us into Ynysangharad Park, passing the Lido and the memorial to the composers of 'Land of My Fathers'.
The final leg of the route is on the Taff Trail back to the start point, via Treforest and Nantgarw.
The walk is an opportunity to see many historical sites, reflecting the important heritage of this area.
Walkers must be in Taffs Well station in good time to buy a ticket and be ready to board the 10:19 train to Porth. Trains only run every hour so it will not be possible to accommodate latecomers.
There is free parking in Taffs Well station.
There are toilets in Barry Sidings Country Park and Ynysangharad Park (subject to being open).
This is a relatively easy flat walk on good marked footpaths/ cycle paths, with good terrain. It has been categorised as moderate because of it's length.
Suitable for dogs as there are no stiles or fields.
