This is a circular route starting and finishing in the Square. We walk out of Kelso down Horsemarket to reach Shedden Park. We cross Shedden Park and turn left up Dryinghouse Lane. We proceed uphill for approximately 600m but we will take our time. We then follow the Ednam road for approximately 800m and turn left into a grassy path lined with hedges with the golf course and race course on either side. This is called the Loaning. We join a minor road and pass the golf clubhouse and ice rink before crossing the road to follow the Borders Abbey Way downhill through a housing estate. As we zig zag down the hill there are good views of Kelso. At the bottom we walk past Croft Park onto Roxburgh Street then turn right to join the Tweed and walk along the Cobby and back into Kelso Square.
Many options for coffee at the end of the walk.
Circular walk, grade D, leisurely. Hiking boots and poles are optional.
