A walk of approximately ten miles along the Rob Roy Way. Mostly on forestry tracks and good paths, but there may be a bit of mud in places; tarmac for the last section. Choose your footwear accordingly. Countryside walking and some lovely views, weather permitting.
We saw ospreys at either end of this walk on the recce, but ospreys are not guaranteed on the day.
Some mildly complicated car shuttling about will be needed as this is a linear walk; see additional details. Drivers will therefore get to miss out the big initial climb.
Car sharing will be required for this walk. The plan is as follows:
Cars drive to Aberfoyle and drop off walkers at the Scottish Wool Centre, whereupon we walk at an easy pace up the hill to the David Marshall Lodge (aka "Go Ape"). Meanwhile the drivers drive to Callander and park at the far end of the walk, before one car (or two depending on numbers) brings them back to the David Marshall Lodge to meet us. At the end of the walk the driver of the car that's parked at the David Marshall will get a lift that far with one of the cars that's parked in Callander. Simple!
(note that there's a £5 charge for the Go Ape car park so we should think about compensating the driver or drivers who park here)
