The walk mainly uses small lanes on the remoter side of the South Tyne Valley. Much of the walk follows the contours of the valley side at about 1000', affording good views if the weather is kind. A short section in the middle of the walk is off-road but uses an established track to ascend fairly steeply for about 300'. We will take this section very slowly.
The walk is mainly linear, but with a loop (including the uphill section) in the middle. There is much evidence of the mining history of the area along the walk, as well as very attractive views over the South Tyne Valley.
NB Postcodes in remoter places cover large areas so do not use this to find the walk start.
