A mixed walk starting in the valley and finishing with a valley walk, with a challenging upland section in between around the hills and moors overlooking Longdendale and Glossopdale. We will hear, if not see, a lot of birds, mainly of the ground nesting variety. There are also quite a lot of Raptors including recently a Peregrine Falcon.

If the weather is wet in the lead up to the walk, gaiters maybe advisable. There are some boggy sections and areas where the RSPB have been doing some great conservation work in terms of re-wetting the moors. There will also be a short section off path over rough, lumpy grass - strictly speaking there is a path here, however it is rather vague on the ground these days.

Finally, there is a steep rocky decent off the moor before we get onto easier paths on our way through the valley to Glossop.
