Starting at the car park just below the Loch Turret dam, the route follows the track that runs along the eastern side of the Loch Turret reservoir. The route then climbs up the southern slopes of Auchnafree Hill to the summit. The return route continues along an undulating, winding track over Ton Eich and Choinneachain Hill, down to a small dam on the Barvick Burn, and makes the final gradual descent back to the start.
