We drive to Ayr and take the bus to Dunure (remember your travel pass if you have one)
This is a particularly beautiful section of the ACP starting at the scenic village of Dunure and ending at the seaside town of Ayr. The terrain is varied including beaches, rocky shoreline, farmland and disused railway. There is a steep section climbing from the beach via steps. There are several tidal sections which are easily passed on a receding tide. We pass Drumbain waterfall, and care is required on the rocks when in spate.
Several stiles and kissing gates are well maintained. Cows and sheep are often on the shoreline at Fisherton and the disused railway. Sturdy footwear and walking poles are useful over the rocky outcrops. This walk is graded B/Moderate to Difficult. There is the availability of having a coffee stop at 'The Secret Garden Tearoom' or at 'The Burns Centre, Alloway' at the end of the walk.
