This is stage one of Ayrshire Coastal Path (ACP). The walk begins on gravel footpath, rising steeply through woodlands until opening up onto moorland with views across coastland and Loch Ryan. We take the clifftop route, initially downhill to Currarie Port. A beautiful spot for lunch and viewing wildlife. Following ACP signposts we climb onto grassy slopes. The second half of this walk can be a bit challenging due to grassy tussocks going gently up and down along the clifftop to avoid deep gullies. We have a burn to cross leading to a shingle beach before heading along a surfaced single track road back to Ballantrae.
