This B+ walk of 8.2 miles starts at the old Bowling Green car park at Wanlockhead. We pick up the SUW at the visitor centre and make our way to Glengaber Hill and follow the track to the ruins at Cogshead. From there we then ascend Craigy Cleuch before leaving the SUW and head East to Willowgrain Hill and then the ascent of Stood Hill and finally make our way down Green Hill and Black Hill back to the cars.
The walk is on ashphalt track, and open hillside which can be wet and boggy in places so gaiters and poles are recommended.
On a clear day we will get great views of the surrounding Lowther Hills and the village of Wanlockhead.
To get there head through Hurlford and take the B7073 to the prison. Turn onto the A76 and follow this South and go through Sanquhar. Then after going through Mennock turn left onto the B797 and continue to the top of the hill and park on the left at the Bowling Green carpark. Distance 40 miles and cost £24 per car.
