This section of Ayrshire Coastal Path starts at the Varyag monument just south of Lendalfoot. It involves beach walking with some rocky sections, before crossing the busy A77 with a short steep incline to a higher inland section of farmland, with the possibility of cattle. We return to sea level for the last 2 miles of the walk. The sea and coastal views are visible throughout, with beautiful views along the Ayrshire coast, Ailsa Craig and Isle of Arran. Toilet facilities are available at beginning and end of the walk. There is also venues selling ice cream or fish and chips available at the end of the walk.
We car share from Kilmarnock to Girvan, parking at the harbour car park(free parking). Mileage round trip is 69 miles (£24 per car). We then take the bus to Lendalfoot, where the walk commences. Remember travel card if you have one. Care required crossing the busy A77 at two sections of the walk. Footwear with ankle support and walking poles are useful on the rocky sections of beach. Depending on weather there may be a muddy section on the higher level path. There is one stile to cross. There is interesting geological rock formation on this section of the walk, as well as the historical memorial commemorating the final resting place of the Russian cruising vessel, The Varyag, which ran aground off the Ayrshire Coast
