This is a challenging walk along the west bank of the East Dart until Sandy Ford but done before with Ramblers. Here the crossing can be tricky. but OK in dry weather. We’ll then head over open moor to find the remains of Statt’s House (a tinner’s hut). Then to Sittiford and Grey Wethers stone circle to pick up the good track south. We’ll visit the Sheepfold ( an interesting, failed 19th century enterprise) before returning via Hartland Tor to Postbridge.
Parking can be at the National Park centre (£5) from where the walk will start or across the road at Belliver Forest.
Good boots and gaiters may be necessary for river crossing.
