Overview

We start our walk with a short climb through Quicken Tree woods; soon we head for Slade Brook and the SSSI of the Tufa Dams. On a gently rising path we reach the castle at St Briavel's (we might have a look in the courtyard). Descending slightly, we enter the Hudnalls Nature Reserve at The Nedge. The rocky path meanders through these peaceful ancient woodlands; there is a steep drop to our right and care is needed. We then descend steeply to join the River Wye at Ridingstream Weir and head back, via the water meadows, along Offa's Dyke path to Bigsweir.
