Overview

This walk takes the John Muir Way from Blackness, along the coast to Abercorn, a tiny settlement by Hopetoun House. There is a short ascent in woodland by the Midhope Burn, before walking down to return on a woodland edge to the start. Blackness Castle has featured in a number of film and TV series, including Outlander. It juts into the Forth Estuary, this area being a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its plant and animal life.
