Moderate walk with lots of stiles. 9 mile circular route with great open views and mainly gentle climbs – hardest ascent is up to Lamaload. Total ascent on OS app states 1724 feet.
Lots of stiles and muddy parts when the recce was done so 2 poles are recommended – 2 poles means you are less likely to slip, 1 pole you are quite likely to slip and no poles means you are most likely to slip! Maybe this walk is the one to try 2 poles if the wet weather continues.
Route has been adjusted at the end to reduce the amount of muddy descents, but don't let the mud put you off as this is a wonderful scenic walk. We walk from Bollington via Hedge Row, contour round Billinge Hill to Ginclough then on to Lamaload reservoir where we will have lunch. We then walk back via Vale Royal, Tower Hill, Kerridge ridge and Waulkmill woods.
Please bring a packed lunch and drink for coffee stop and ICE card.
Any dogs on a lead due to sheep in fields.
