This walk will cover the southern section of the East Leake Challenge and forms part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of this route which was devised in 2000 by Dennis Fox to mark the new Millennium.
From the car park we head through Meadow Park and on a brief ascent onto Mill Hill, then the route passes through Manor Farm Donkey Sanctuary and then to St. Peter's in the Rushes. Here we will pause to look at the 18th century grave stones. We continue to Rempstone crossing into Leicestershire and following a short ascent we head along the Hoton Hills ridge then drop back into Nottinghamshire at its most southerly village - Stanford-on-Soar. Here we stop for lunch. Passing through the village we head along footpaths then pass through Limekiln Plantation and take a look at the Coldharbour OS Trig Pillar. Crossing the A6006 with care we continue to yet another Manor Farm before heading back to East Leake.
