Woodland and field paths starting with an ascent through Beggarswell Woods. There are some steep stretches as we head for Alderwasley Hall and then Alderwasley village. Excellent views across the Derwent Valley to Crich and Crich Stand. The return is through Shining Cliff Woods and along the River Derwent.

A little road walking where walkers are requested to walk in single file. A few wooden stiles but none too difficult. Bring a drink and a packed lunch.
Ambergate Railway Station is situated at the end of the A610 near to the junction of the A6.
