This pleasant country walk starts at the village of Orston. From the village, we head along a track called Moor Lane. After going under the railway, the we join another track, Orston Lane, which leads to the village of Whatton. We then take a path over the River Smite and onto the picturesque village of Aslockton. By the village church, we take a path back to the River Smite. We follow the grassy banks of the river to a nature reserve then Orston Bridge. Orston is a short walk along the road.
This walk is part of the Flat 5 Series (about 5 miles and mainly flat). There are no stiles and no hills. It can be muddy in places after rain.
There will be a drink stop, so please bring any drinks or snacks with you. The estimated driving time from West Bridgford is 30 minutes.
Car parking is available in the Durham Ox car park (if you are dining) or Church Lane.
There is no need to book the walk, just turn up on the day. After the walk, there is an optional meal at the Durham Ox pub (they have excellent homemade pies). If you wish to join us for this meal, please contact the walk leader before Monday 22nd so a table can be booked. Meals will be ordered once we reach our table.
