For once we will forego the pleasure of climbing Botley Hill and start this brisk and hilly walk at the car park at the top, from whence we will briefly go West along the North Downs Way revelling in the view of the Greensand Ridge, the Weald beyond and the M25 in the foreground, before we cut north on the Vanguard Way, with a fond farewell to the M25. The route passes through the evocatively named Greenhill Shaw., Hovings Hole, Slines Oak, and Worms Heath before reaching Chelsham great Park, the Gripes, and Fickleshole where we will have our picnic lunch with optional refreshments at the pub.
After lunch we will join the Tandridge Border Path in the footsteps of the legions down the Roman Road and pass Biggin Hill before rejoining the North Downs Way at Titsey Brewery back to the car park.
While we will follow hard surface trails wherever possible there are bound to be muddy parts of the walk, which is undulating with approximately 1600 feet of ascent.
Please check the our website www.https://sevenoaksramblers.org.uk on the day of the walk for any changes, and also the weather forecast.
