This is one of a series of walks being offered by Sevenoaks Ramblers in association with the National Trust Chartwell.
The walk takes us past iconic houses, ancient sites and extensive views starting from Chartwell to Tower Wood with its 18th Century folly, past the source of the Darent, to the iron age Westerham Fort. The route then goes through the High Chart to Limpsfield where we will stop at Tenchleys Park for a picnic snack and to admire the view southwards.
We will then drop down to the C16 Tenchleys Manor and walk below the Greensand Ridge past a moated farm and C18 Trevereux Manor to Crockham Hill where we will pause at the grave of Octavia Hill, a founder of the National Trust, before starting the gradual climb past Mariners (C16 to C18) back to Chartwell, where the house, grounds and cafe can be explored at leisure.
There are a couple of hills and also stiles on the walk but nothing too taxing.
Please check with the Sevenoaks Ramblers website and also the weather forecast before coming on the walk, and dress appropriately.
Bring a snack for the break.
