Overview

This walk has the advantage of almost 100% surfaced paths  but disadvantage of toilets,  only at the beginning at Sainsburys, Selly Oak and at lunchtime,  Asda, Barnes Hill.  Although this is an urban walk much of it is off road.

It is a flat and pleasant path along the Walkway , then down a  leafy sunken path to Old Quarry Park where we will have our coffee break, after which we follow a short way behind the medieval ruins of Weoley Castle and emerge to take a quick peek at the main entrance.   We return via Lodge Hill Cemetery and enter Selly Oak Park via Woolacombe Lodge Rd back to our starting point, see below.

Points of interest are the Lapal Canal or remains, a medieval nursery and evidence of quarrying plus the derivation of Birmingham’s California!

It is flat, no stiles and even with forecast heavy rain, unlikely to be much mud. .

I hope to see you there.
