This is a hilly, strenuous walk connecting Denbies Vineyard to Dorking. The route will take us through the Denbies Vineyard estate, then head to Ranmore Common before continuing south along a lesser-used path to Leith Hill Tower. From there, we’ll walk through Holmwood Country Park and Common, finishing on Dorking High Street. There are a couple of steep descents, so please bring poles if you need more stability when going down hill. Total ascent: approximately 700 meters. Distance: 17 miles.
Please note, we'll finish the walk on Dorking High Street. Dorking Main station is about a further 15 - 20 minutes walk from the finish point. (Please note there are 3 stations in Dorking)
As the days are getting shorter, we’ll maintain a reasonably brisk pace to arrive in Dorking before dark. Please bring a head torch just in case. We’ll stop for lunch about halfway through the walk. Please bring a packed lunch. There will be a pub stop at the end.
Travel: Please take the 0924 from London Waterloo (Clapham Junction 0933). Arrive Box Hill & Westhumble at 10.12 .
