Starting in California we head east towards Polmont Golf Course and I plan to stop for a tea break in the vicinity. From there we keep walking east heading for the fields behind the Haining Care Home where, depending on the weather , we should get lovely views of the Forth. This is probably the best place for lunch as there are no picnic benches or seats anywhere nearby.
Dropping down to the Union canal we start heading west before crossing over a wee stone bridge. After walking through a small wooded area we will emerge into a very nice housing estate in Brightons. Winding our way along a few streets , some with questionable garden ornaments, we arrive back onto our original path back to California.
This walk is mainly on good footpaths of grass, ash, tarmac and woodland paths with the usual tree roots. We will have 1 stile to negotiate possibly 2 if the other it has been repaired. I doubt it will be as there is now a nice gap at the side of the gate. I will check this out before we go.
The path leading down towards the canal can be slippy as it is usually muddy.
