A circular walk through various woodlands full of the sound of birdsong. Leaving the Maenllwyd Inn overflow car park we follow the Cambrian Way, eastward, to then descend through Coed Cefn-pwll-du towards Draethen. We then climb westerly through Coed y Bwdrwm & Coed y Squire to the Rhymney Ridgeway before entering Coedcae & Coed Llwyn-celyn to ascend to the trig point above Craig Llysfaen with extensive views (on a clear day) over Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. Dropping down from the ridge, we cross the valley and ascend to Cefn Onn farm. We then return, heading east, via the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk/ Cambrian Way, through Coed Cefn-onn, before reaching a WW2 Special Duties bunker, in the woods, just as we return to the Maenllwyd Inn for refreshments.
Pre-booking requested. Please message the Walk Leader, Heather C. (07855 757320) to book places on this walk.
Walk is on good paths, with just a couple of stiles on the route.
