A circular walk of just over 12 miles, exploring the East Hampshire countryside south of the village of Chawton. From the car park, we initially head east before turning south through Hartley Park and a coffee stop. We then head south-west along a very pleasant stretch of the Writers Way to Selbourne Common, where we stop for lunch. After crossing the common, we turn north, re-joining the Writers Way at Upper Farringdon, back to Chawton alongside the grounds of Chawton House.
There are four stiles, several gates and just over 300m/1000ft of ascent - generally gradual with one steep zig zag path from Selbourne Village up onto the common. The going underfoot is a mix of farm tracks and woodland paths and is generally good. The are three short road sections and we cross a busy B road, where care will be required. Please check the weather forecast and ensure you have all appropriate clothing and equipment for the day.
This walk is limited to 16 so please book your place using the link before 6.00pm on Wednesday 22nd October.
Please bring food and drink for the day to include morning coffee and lunch stops.
