Did you know, there are 33 named oak trees in Savernake Forest? No, well starting from the Postern Hill car park, this will be your opportunity to “bag” 13 of those trees in one walk (we "bagged" 18 last Autumn), together with a monument and a surprise bonus.
Whilst many of the beech trees, that we'll see during the walk, are over 200 years old, the oak trees are substantially older, with at least two having been in existence before William the Conqueror’s invasion in 1066. So come and explore the Forest once again... but do remember to keep an eye open for the headless woman on the white horse!
This is a forest walk along paths and tracks, some of which are overgrown and may well be muddy following rain. You will need to be aware of roots and branches, which can become trip hazards. So please dress appropriately for the weather and the likely conditions underfoot for what is hoped will be an interesting and “slightly out of the ordinary” walk.
This walk is limited to 18 walkers and you are requested to book online before 6.00pm on Saturday, 18th October using the link below.
Please bring sufficient food and drink for the day.
