Overview

The walk soon heads downhill, to pass St. Mary’s Church. Ahead, on the horizon is Oldbury Castle Hillfort and Lansdowne/Cherhill Monument. To reach these, we follow the bottom of the valley of Ranscombe Bottom before ascending along grassy tracks. There are good views of the Cherhill White Horse and of Morgan’s Hill from the top. The walk returns to the start by following grassy tracks, through the ramparts and down towards the Roman Road. The route can be muddy and slippery in places. Sticks or poles are recommended. Bring refreshments for one stop
