Overview

An attractive walk in the Chichester Harbour National Landscape along the shoreline of six Harbour villages, through countryside and a crossing by ferry at Itchenor.

We’ll start the walk at Dell Quay Road, pass through Dell Quay and walk anti-clockwise along the shores of Apuldram and Fishbourne.  The route then heads across farmland towards Bosham, where we follow the Bosham Foreshore round to a short, pleasant crossing on the Itchenor Ferry.

The ferry carries 12, so it may require a trip or two to get us all across but this won’t take long.

The ferry costs £3 one way and payment can be made by cash or card - https://itchenorferry.co.uk/

Once we’re all safely across, we’ll pass through Itchenor enroute to Birdham, hugging the shoreline or passing by some rather impressive housing stock.  We follow a short section of the Chichester Canal, and some quirky house boats, as we circle Chichester Marina.  This brings us back out onto a lovely stretch of the shoreline, a permissive path on Apuldram Manor Farm, and back to Dell Quay Road.

This is a version of the Six Harbour Villages walk advertised by the Chichester Harbour Conservancy.

The walk is very flat, with no stiles.  There could be some muddy sections if the weather has been wet and a couple of short sections where there are likely to be nettles.  Tide times have been checked and it will be fine to follow Bosham Foreshore.
