Overview

A moderate walk of around 5.5 miles starting and finishing at the Malt Shovel, Chorley. From the pub, the route follows the Two Saints Way to Farewell and then onto Longdon Green following established footpaths across fields. After a break at the Village Green, the route again follows good footpaths to Chorley via Gorton Lodge. There are a couple of gentle inclines and several stiles to cross. Refreshments are availavle in the Malt Shovel after the walk.

Meet at Wyndley Swimming Pool car park 09:15 for car sharing. Directions to the Malt Shovel, Chorley WS13 8DD: take the A5127 to Lichfield, then the ring road towards Rugeley. Continue on the Western Bypass, just before the traffic lights for Eastern Avenue, turn left along Cross Hands Lane. After 2 miles, at Farewell, turn left at the junction onto Chorley Road. After one mile at the next junction, turn right. The Malt Shovel is about 300 yards on the left. Parking in the pub car park.
