Overview

BOOKING REQUESTED

From Hollinsclough in a NW direction under Hollinsclough Rake, then north to Turncliff.  South-east towards Booth Farm and Stoop Farm and then ascending Chrome Hill via concessionary path which generally cuts just below the summit ridge. There is a path around the hillside as an alternative. Similarly an alternative route around Parkhouse Hill is possible. Once in the valley, we take a track heading west back to Hollinsclough.  Approx. 5 minutes away from the village we pass an 'honesty shop' selling refreshments and there are picnic tables. Bring some change!

Risk assessment: Several stiles, mostly in good condition.  Some muddy sections. Some walking on very minor roads. Lots sheep and lambs in fields.  Mainly undulating countryside but a couple of short, steep ascents before the main ascents up Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill. One short section alongside a gorge but on good path. Some rocky paths need care if wet.

Hollinsclough village centre, roadside parking opposite Methodist Chapel also in a layby further along, and on the grass verge along the road. Farm vehicles often use these lanes so please ensure cars are well tucked in. Roadside parking is limited so please car share where possible. Note: 3/4 miles after leaving the A53, satnav may suggest turning left down a narrow lane signed as unsuitable for lorries. It is better to stay on Edge Top Road towards Longnor and approach Hollinsclough from the SE.
