Overview

Join me for a 6.5mile ramble in the countryside surrounding the River Etherow. Starting at the Etherow Country Park P&D Car Park where you will find toilets and refreshments at the cafe the walk follows the Etherow  to the weir then ascends up to Beacom Houses through woodland and farmland. We will then descend to Bothams Hall where we cross the Etherow via a footbridge to begin our return. After a short ascent to Higher Stirrups Farm we return along Glossop Road to Ernocroft Wood to rejoin the Etherow and return to the Car Park.

Although there 2 uphill sections on this walk we will take them at a leisurely pace, stopping whenever necessary. We will have a morning coffee break at around 11.30, lunch at around 1.30 and possibly another coffee break at 2.30. Regular water breaks will be taken throughout the day.

Please bring plenty of fluids, sun tan lotion and a packed lunch with you.

Insect repellent would be useful at this time of year.
