Overview

Starting from the carpark at Crowden we skirt the outdoor centre before climbing up a narrow path leading onto the moors. We already get great views across to Bleaklow and the reservoirs. We reach Lads Leap, where we may have an early coffee or carry on further to the picturesque quarry. We then descend gently through woodland on a grassy track, eventually leading down to the main road. When we reach the reservoir we cross over and take an upward path to the Longdendale Trail, eventually crossing back over between Torside and Rhodeswood reservoirs. Our return to Crowden is through fields and a short section of the Pennine Way.

The moors can be soggy, especially after rain so please wear appropriate footwear.

The shop at the campsite is usually open for a welcome cold drink or ice-cream.
