We are the Isle of Wight Ramblers. We arrange walks, monitor paths and help our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A circular walk with a drinks/snack stop. Starts from Carisbrooke Priory car park. We’ll head past the castle, via Froglands, Bowcombe, and up onto the top, part walk the Tennyson Trail and come back via Clatterford. Nice walk, a bit of up and down, but nothing too major, no stiles, and at the time of recce-ing fairly minimal mud.
By car:
Park at the Carisbrooke Priory carpark (free). Or if that is full, then there is an alternative (honesty / charity donations) car park just a short way back down Whitcombe Road.
By public transport:
Not the greatest to access by bus, but if you don’t mind a short wait there is a No 6 from Newport Bus Station at 09.55 which gets to Carisbrooke Priory at 10.02
Car share:
In the interests of the air, parking, and non-drivers, if anyone feels able to offer, or needs, a carshare to access this walk then please post any offer or request on our WhatsApp group. (To join the group please message Serena on 07564-811690).
Bring drink / snack.
Depending on the weather, consider suitable clothing, footwear, walking stick, sun cream, drinks, and food. Watch out for ticks and remove ASAP. If you are unsure about your ability to undertake this walk, please contact the walks leader. If you need to leave the walking group, please ensure you inform the leader or back marker
Please note there may be short sections of road walking, so please walk in single file and take good care.

If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise. We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.
