We are the North East London Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

Polo Bar - 24 Hour Great British Cafe serves coffee, cakes, Italian treats, bacon butties and meals. It has been in the same family since 1953. There are toilets. On arrival, say that you are having coffee inside and are meeting friends. You will be served at the table. Please meet at the cafe by 10.40 at the very latest, though most of the group tend to arrive earlier. It has three levels, so check upstairs or ask if you cannot see anyone from the group. I will aim to arrive early and find us some space.
At 11.00 we will start the optional walk, through the City and on towards Westminster. It takes in various parks, markets and little-known places of interest, finishing at Trafalgar Square. Charing Cross and Embankment Tube Stations are nearby. There is a possibility of tea at the end of the walk. We will be viewing the Christmas decorations, not shopping.
There are several drop-out options at bus stops and Tube stations. We pass toilets along the way.
Although the walk is on hard surfaces, walking shoes or walking boots are recommended.
The picnic lunch is likely to be in the Barbican or Charterhouse Square, after just over 2 miles. Bring a picnic if you plan to walk beyond these places.
Polo Bar, 176 Bishopsgate, EC2M 4NQ. At Liverpool Street Station take the escalator near Platform 14. This takes you up to Bishopsgate. Polo Bar is over the pedestrian crossing, opposite the station. Several buses stop along Bishopsgate.
