A walk of around 6.5 miles starting from Ye Olde Dun Cow Inn in the attractive village of Colton through pleasant, open Staffordshire countryside and woodland, with good views from the high ground. We walk along the Staffordshire Way which takes us up and over the West Coast Main Line railway to join the Trent & Mersey Canal towpath for about a mile, crossing the River Trent at Brindley Bank Aqueduct. After leaving the towpath, we walk past Rugeley trading estate and railway station before following field paths, bridleways and lanes to Stockwell Heath where we rejoin the Staffordshire Way to Colton.
The terrain is fairly easy, but there are around ten stiles.
Drinks available at the pub after the walk.
Guests please contact the walk leader if you would like to join this walk.
We are sorry, but only assistance dogs are permitted on our walks.
