This is an easy walk - 5.7 miles, mostly on made up paths and some road walking. No hills or stiles, but there are steps up to the canal towards the end – and the footbridge over the railway line.
The route is along the canal to Buglawton, passing through the “ghost village” of Havannah, on to the mill weir and following the River Dane through Congleton Park before returning to the station via the Biddulph Way.
There are a couple of places where we can stop for coffee, depending on the pace.
The Queens Head is across the main road from the station, for anyone wanting lunch there they advise booking.
