We are the Kilmarnock & Loudoun Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This is a 4.5 mile easy walk starting from the car park at the far end of Ardlochan Road in Maidens. We will walk into Culzean Country Park along farm tracks via the Cat Gates and walk through the Country Park to reach the Home Farm Cafe ( approximately 1 hour 15 mins) for a late morning coffee break. We will then pass near the castle and along the Lion and Monkey trails to reach the Swan Pond. From here we will return to Cat Gates and then back to Maidens by the farm tracks. There will be time to look at the various attractions within the Country Park. The walk will last around 2 hours 30 mins. At the end of the walk there will be the option of a short drive to the cafe at the other end of Maidens village. There are portaloo toilets in the Ardlochan Road car park and there are toilets at Home Farm Cafe. The toilets at the Swan Pond Cafe are currently closed. The farm tracks leading from Ardlochan Road to the Cat Gates are very muddy so boots, gaiters and poles are recommended. The paths within the Country Park are generally good.
