This is a linear ‘green walk’ (using public transport) of around 7 miles packed with numerous places of historic interest.
We will meet at 10.00 in Central station under the clock on the main concourse (NS587652). The 9.05 bus from Kilmarnock will allow ample time to arrive – get off on Bothwell Street near the station. Alternatively travel by train direct to Central. We will then journey out to Clydebank on the X1 bus to begin the walk (takes 30 minutes). Remember your bus pass, if you have one. If planning to meet the group in Clydebank, please contact me to arrange a meeting place.
The walk is around 7 miles on good paths and on level ground – some tarmac and some hardcore. We will cross the Clyde at Yoker on the new river crossing and follow the River Cart to Renfrew and then the Clyde upriver to Braehead. As the route is near major transport links it can easily be shortened should anyone wish to return earlier.
( A .gpx file is attached for those who wish to follow the route using GPS).
The walk will end at Braehead Shopping Centre (NS522772) – there are frequent Express buses back to the city centre (and coffee shops!).
Along the way there are numerous places of interest, including a ‘sail through’ fish and chip shop, the Titan Crane, the new river crossing at Yoker, a stone which bleeds and a saint’s pillow.

Toilets are available at Central Station, Clydebank and at Braehead.
